2012: 250th Anniversary Quilt

Anniversary Quilt

This quilt, representing the town of Bowdoinham from its incorporation in 1762 until 1912, was created in honor of the town’s 250th Birthday. It was designed and constructed by the women of the Historical Society from October 2011 to September 18, 2012. When displayed in The Maine Quilts show in Augusta in July of 2013, it won one of only three ‘Judge’s Choice’ Awards.

It was decided not to raffle this quilt. Instead the opportunity to have one’s name on the back of the quilt was sold for $5.00 a name. This raised over $500.00 for the society.

This quilt now hangs in the Bowdoinham Historical Society Meeting House. It was planned to create a companion quilt representing Bowdoinham from 1912 to 2012. We are in hopes that this project will take shape soon. Please contact BHS if your would like to work on it.

At the same time the children of Bowdoinham Community School also created a quilt which they titled “I Love Bowdoinham.” It is displayed in the Community School.
