Armed Forces

These lists of the Bowdoinham members of the Armed Forces came from the Bicentennial Booklet:

Members Of The Armed Forces From Bowdoinham, Maine

And Their Rank At The Close Of World War I- 1919

Due to the fact there was not a list of the men who served with the Armed Forces in W.W. I, this list was taken from the Roster of Maine in the Military Service of the United States and Allies, World War 1917-1919. Also, with the help of my father, William Maloon, to my knowledge this list is complete.

2012: 250th Anniversary Quilt

This quilt, representing the town of Bowdoinham from its incorporation in 1762 until 1912, was created in honor of the town’s 250th Birthday. It was designed and constructed by the women of the Historical Society from October 2011 to September 18, 2012. When displayed in The Maine Quilts show in Augusta in July of 2013, it won one of only three ‘Judge’s Choice’ Awards.

It was decided not to raffle this quilt. Instead the opportunity to have one’s name on the back of the quilt was sold for $5.00 a name. This raised over $500.00 for the society.
